OUR SWIM TEAM

Don’t be afraid of the water. Become a shark and own the water!

The Sharks offer a comprehensive swim program for kids ages 4 – 18. All swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 meters) unassisted.

There are NO TRYOUTS; everyone is welcome! Our coaching staff has years of experience swimming and coaching; many are River’s Bend residents or were Sharks themselves!

This home-grown approach means our coaches are invested in your child, the swimmers, and the neighborhood. Our head coaching staff have their WSI and CPR certifications, meaning they have been professionally trained to teach water safety instruction.

So be a Shark and swim with us! What can you expect as a swimmer?

Great times with friends, new and old. A great tan if you do not mind swimsuit lines.

  • To receive supportive and detailed instruction.
  • To learn to swim each stroke proficiently.
  • To have a great time with friends.

What can you expect as a parent?

  • To watch your child grow as an athlete.
  • To watch your child’s confidence increase due to their successes.
  • To participate (that means volunteer at least one half at EVERY swim meet) in an activity that supports your child.
  • To meet and spend time with other parents and share the experience.

Why become a Shark?

Recently, the River’s Bend Sharks have had at least 150 children on the team. The swimmers stay active during the long summer in a healthy and supervised activity, and that alone is a success. Our swimmers have also accomplished great things in the water, including personal bests throughout the summer, in addition to many medals won during league championships. What kind of success have the RBST (River’s Bend Swim Team) Sharks had in the past?

2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 Second in the league 2nd place overall league championship – 2013, 2014 – Dual Meet Champions and Southside Swim League Championship Champions.

What do you do as a Shark? Practice, practice, practice, and have FUN, FUN, FUN! The coaches will get you in the water and swimming as soon as possible to see what you can do.

Why all the practice?

Our divisions

What does division white, red, blue, and gold mean?

Each age group is again broken down into divisions based on swimmers times. The Blue swimmers are the fastest, followed by the red and white divisions. Swimmers do not have to be fast to join the team. RBST Sharks have something to offer everyone!

The Sharks are very family friendly.

  • The coaches work around family vacations and other activities.
  • There is no attendance policy.
  • The Sharks are about providing fun for the whole family!

You do not have to live in Rivers Bend to be on the team. We take all ages 4 to 18, as long as you can swim 1 length of the pool and 2 lengths ages 9 and up.

If you would like to be added to the swim team e-mail list and receive all upcoming information to join the team, please e-mail rbstswimteam@gmail.com or call Julie Koob (804) 414-1282. See you at the new pool!
